This role requires regular, on-site presence at our Wallingford, CT office. Candidates must be able to work on-site during regular business hours.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Assistant Manager, Procurement & Contracts, leads and manages CLC’s high-value, high-impact procurement activities, ensuring efficient, compliant, and strategic purchasing operations. The incumbent supervises and develops procurement staff; coordinates complex cross-functional initiatives; manages supplier relationships and drives continuous improvement in sourcing, vendor performance, and contract management practices.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Procurement Management – manage high value acquisitions; oversee work of procurement staff and drive performance metrics and process improvements. Serve as the primary liaison to vendors and internal teams, presenting to senior leadership and fostering transparency.

Contract Management – collaborate with legal to negotiate and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance renewals and issue resolution.

Supply Chain Sustainability - Develop inclusive sourcing strategies, strengthen supplier diversity, and represent CLC at industry events.

FOIA Compliance - Lead procurement-related FOIA responses and maintain accurate documentation in line with legal standards.

What We’re Looking For

The preferred candidate will be a strategic thinker with procurement expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to compliance, innovation, and supplier equity. You’ll also need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Public Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible experience in procurement or contract management including proficiency with procurement and contract management systems and tools.
  • Proven ability to lead staff, motivate and develop team members while maintaining accountability and performance standards.
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and confidently to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, vendor management and stakeholder engagement skills combined with a proficiency in contract drafting, contract law and procurement requirements.
  • Certification in procurement or contract management (e.g., CPPB, CPPO) is a plus
